1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

BeaconHEAR operates a restricted-access network. To ensure the security of our feeds and compliance with our strict "No Law Enforcement Audio" policy, we require significant documentation from our users. We collect the following types of information:

A. Personal Identification (PII)

  • Full Name and Legal Address.
  • Official Agency Email Address (.gov, .org).
  • Phone Number for Two-Factor Authentication.
  • Copies of Credentials: Agency ID Cards, Letters of Authorization, or Press Credentials.

B. Technical Usage Data

  • IP Addresses and Geolocation data.
  • Browser User Agent and Device Type.
  • Session duration and specific feed access logs.
  • Connection timestamps.

2. HOW WE STORE & SECURE DATA

We understand that holding agency credentials creates a high-value target for bad actors. We utilize a tiered storage architecture to minimize risk.

  • Cold Storage for Credentials: Once a user is vetted and approved, the digital copies of their ID cards and authorization letters are moved to an encrypted, offline storage medium ("Cold Storage"). These documents are NOT accessible via the web server.
  • Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is protected using TLS 1.3 (Transport Layer Security) encryption.
  • Access Logs: Technical logs are retained for 90 days to monitor for account sharing or brute-force attacks, after which they are anonymized.

3. SHARING & DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION

Beacon Mid-Atlantic does NOT sell, trade, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties. However, we may disclose your information in the following specific scenarios:

A. Law Enforcement Compliance

We cooperate fully with valid legal processes. We will disclose user data, including PII and connection logs, to law enforcement agencies if compelled by a subpoena, court order, or search warrant, specifically in cases involving the misuse of our feeds to interfere with public safety operations.

B. Protection of Rights

We may disclose information when we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, or violations of our Terms of Service.

4. COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

We use cookies solely for the purpose of authentication and session management.

  • Session Cookies: Temporary cookies used to keep you logged in as you navigate between pages.
  • Security Cookies: Used to detect and prevent cross-site request forgery (CSRF) and other attacks.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels.

5. YOUR DATA RIGHTS

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have specific rights regarding your data:

  • Right to Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Deletion: You may request that we delete your account and associated data, subject to our need to retain records for legal compliance.
  • Right to Rectification: You may request corrections to inaccurate personal data.

To exercise these rights, please contact our Data Protection Officer at [email protected].

6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
